Soil Stabilization and Full Depth Reclamation

An efficient and innovative solution for new and existing surfaces

Soil Stabilization

Soil stabilization is a way of improving the weight bearing capabilities and performance of sub-surface soils and bases to strengthen road, parking, or building pad surfaces. The main objective of soil stabilization is to improve on-site materials to create a more solid and strong base course to better support asphalt and concrete surfaces.  By implementing this process, the crews at NWGP are able to alter the make up of existing site soils by adding formulations of lime, fly-ash, and Portland cement to the soil  to enhance their physical properties. Stabilization can increase the shear strength of a soil and/or control the shrink-swell properties of a soil, thus improving the load bearing capacity of a sub-grade to support pavements and foundations.  In cases where existing onsite soils are found to be unsuitable for construction, soil stabilization can be implemented as a much more efficient method in comparison to conventional methods of soil removal and replacement.  NWGP stabilization crews have the necessary equipment and staff to provide all pulverization, grading, and spreading necessary for this service.

Full-Depth Reclamation

As a very similar to process to soil stabilization, full-depth reclamation (FDR) is a roadway recycling process, formerly known as pulverizing, in which all of the pavement and some of the underlying material is pulverized and treated with an additive to produce an improved, stabilized base.  This process is very efficient and environmentally friendly in that it saves money while preserving natural resources by using existing materials and conserving aggregates. As such, the asphalt or concrete applied to the surface prepared through full depth reclamation will last much longer and will be less likely to fail due to sub-surface failure.  With this process, there is no material disposal, no undercutting of existing surface, and pavement profile is corrected.  The result is an improved and more stable surface with less expense involved.

NWGP Inc is proud to be one of the few asphalt paving contractors with the equipment and crews to provide these services amongst an already diverse list of abilities.  This is one of many reasons why NWGP is a company like no other.
